12 monthsProgram duration
Program overview
Study Level
MBA
The MBA Sports Management is offered by the UCAM Sports Management University, an initiative of Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia (UCAM). It is a great opportunity for up to 25 participants per academic year to develop the skills and experience required to manage and direct sports events and organizations. This is done through a program that emphasizes industry-specific management and planning capacities.
The initiative was set up to ensure that principal figures at sporting organizations have the skills and knowledge acquired from advanced academic studies, to allow them to perform in their role with the relevant level of qualification one would expect from a top referee, trainer or physiotherapist.
Endorsed by the Spanish Olympic Committee, the course benefits from many partnership agreements with both public and private companies, federations, councils and associations, built up by UCAM’s Physical Activity and Sports Science Faculty.
Classes run Monday-Thursday, 16:00-21:00, and are structured in four core modules: ‘Basics of Sports Management’, ‘Sports Marketing and Communications’, ‘Planning, Human Resources and Financial Management’ and ‘Sports Equipment, Facilities and Quality’.
Taught in English by elite professors, the course is currently available for €11,400 at the Murcia campus and €11,900 at the Madrid campus.
Participants undergo 200 hours of practical experience in a professional work environment and finish the program with a final thesis. One of the highlights is an educational trip to Dubai and Abu Dhabi, taking in some of the cities’ most innovative sporting facilities. These include Dubai Sport City, Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club, Hammdan Sport Complex, and Ferrari City.
The expectation is that successful students will complete the course able to accurately interpret the laws by which sports are governed, manage quality processes within major sports organizations, research and teach sports management, and be able to organize events at a local, national or international level.
