On Campus
The on-campus part-time Otago MBA is a three- to five-year programme for high-achievers who, for various reasons, are unable to commit to the full-time programme. The Otago MBA offers executives and professionals who live in and around Dunedin a competitive career advantage.
Curriculum
Undertaking the part-time Otago MBA involves studying exactly the same curriculum and classes as full-time students. The curriculum is delivered via a mix of lectures, interactive workshops and regular presentations from academics and visiting business leaders. Case-study analysis is interspersed throughout the course alongside a traditional lecture format.
Workload
The Otago MBA is an academically demanding and rigorous programme that delivers a solid foundation across all key areas of business. As an approximate guide, students can expect to spend up to 20 hours per week on each core paper. These hours are made up of a combination of lectures, preparation of assignments and reading. Group assignments will often require spending time as part of a team on weekends and in the evenings.
Alternative graduation option
The Otago MBA qualification opens doors to excellent career options. However, personal situations or motivations can change over the course of part-time study. For this reason, part-time students are given the choice of graduating earlier, after completing eight subjects, with the well-respected University of Otago Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration (PGDipBusAdmin).
