The full-time MBA offered by the Graziadio School of Business and Management at Pepperdine University is an immersive educational experience. The school encourages international students and promises a diverse and worldly program.
The full-time MBA program varies in duration according to undergraduate experience. If students have an undergraduate degree in business and at least three years of prior work experience, they can take the 12-month MBA program. Those who have 3 years of prior work experience without a business undergraduate degree take the 15-month MBA program.
The Pepperdine MBA program consists of core courses and electives. The core MBA courses include financial accounting; cost accounting; applied data analysis; finance; marketing; managing within the legal, ethical and governmental environment; macroeconomic analysis; quantitative business analysis; and strategic management. There are also elective themes in which students can pick modules for further areas of study. The available themes for electives include marketing, finance, leadership and managing organizational change. There are further options for personalization and specialization, with specialized areas of study. Students can choose dispute resolution, entrepreneurship, finance, or marketing.
There is also the SEER certificate option, which is led by the former Patagonia CEO Michael Crooke. The certificate is in socially, environmentally, and ethically responsibly business strategy. Students can complement their MBA degree with courses and activities that will prepare them to incorporate their own values and ethics into a successful career, apply SEER values to companies both large and small, and, finally, be able to lead the next wave of great organizations.
The program recognizes that most sustainable MBA programs focus on the ‘triple bottom line’ – people, planet and profits. This program however focuses on corporate social responsibility (people), environmental stewardship (planet), financial strength (profits), and product/service. This is because delivery of a quality product is essential for a sustainable competitive advantage.
There is the opportunity for international study, which provides direct insight into the global market place. There are partner universities available for study in Europe, Latin America, Asia, Africa, and Australia. There are different options available for international study, such as a one-week, multi-week, or trimester abroad options.
The average student has five years of prior work experience and is 29 years old. The student to faculty ratio is 14:1, with 61 students per cohort. Domestic students make up 56 percent of the class, with international students making up the further 44 percent.
