The Central Saint Martins Birkbeck MBA is a special one, as it is offered at both Central Saint Matins and Birkbeck, University of London.

Selection criteria

Applicants are selected according to potential and current ability in the following areas:

• Ability to think in abstract terms about planning, management and resources

• Excellent communication skills

• Be numerate and display some experience and understanding of logistics and strategic thinking

• Team player and builder, not a competitive individualist

• Demonstrate a collaborative mindset and an ability to negotiate roles within multidisciplinary and cross-cultural teams

• Have a strong level of standard computer literacy

For September 2020, tuition fees for ALL students regardless of fee status are £27,000 (US$35,483). 

However, there is a £500 (US$657) per annum discount for students who have completed a PG Dip/Cert or an undergraduate course including Grad Dip/Cert, at UAL.

The Central Saint Martins Birkbeck MBA runs for 60 weeks over 18 months in low-residency mode. Students are required to commit 30 hours per week to study, which includes teaching time and independent study. 


This course is delivered via a blended part-time/distance learning pathway, online and through 12 intensive study weekend sprints at alternating Central Saint Martins and Birkbeck campuses. 


Each sprint runs all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday, at regular five-week intervals and is accompanied by three online sessions of 1.5 hours each.

The Central Saint Martins Birkbeck MBA curriculum has four units – tackling business and management-related theories through a real-world problem-solving approach to learning and teaching. The units are as follows:

Unit 1: Provocation and Enquiry

Unit 2: Entrepreneurship in Action

Unit 3: Effecting Change: Collaboration in Practice

Unit 4: Extended Live Project in Practice
