Carlos Martinez Mozo talks to TopMBA.com about making his decision to do an MBA at Tuck School of Business, and his future career plans.

What were you doing before your MBA?

Before attending the MBA I was working for a consulting firm in Spain. I had over four years of full time experience before the MBA.      

What were your main reasons for deciding to attend business school?

I had three main reasons to attend business school:
- learn those topics I had not been exposed to during my professional career or at college
- acquire or develop skills that could help me move forward in my professional career
- meet other people and live in the USA      

What research did you undertake in selecting your school? 

I mainly used the following resources:
- meet Spanish alumni
- talk to current students
- attend information events organized by the Schools in Spain
- talk/ write to School's Admissions staff
- visit websites
- attend MBA Tours

What were the main criteria in your selection?

My main criteria were the following:
- prestige (strong curriculum)
- focus on leadership and general management, with high quantitative content
- close community, access to faculty and staff
- unique offer (specific courses, specific faculty, area, methodology, study groups)      

Why did you decide to study either in your own country or overseas?

I wanted to study in the United States, to enhance the personal experience. In addition, there are many excellent MBA programs in the United States.      

How well do your think the MBA is regarded in your home country?

Having an MBA is being regarded better and better in Spain.      

Are there any well-known and/or successful entrepreneurs that are alumni of your school?

There are many successful entrepreneurs among the Tuck alumni. For example, William F. Achtmeyer (T81) is the founder of The Parthenon Group, a strategic advisory firm with offices in Boston, San Francisco and London.      

How much do you expect to earn on graduation?

Salary on graduation is around $100,000 (USA market).      

What do you expect to do on graduation and where do you expect to be based?

I expect to continue my career in consulting, and to be based in Spain.      

How easy or difficult do you expect it to be to achieve these objectives?

Given the excellent competition, it will be very challenging.
