MBA Alumni Profile: Dinos Constantinou, IMD

Dinos Constantinou shares his MBA experience at IMD and tells us why he chose an MBA over an EMBA.

1. Why did you decide to attend your Business School?

- Professional experience and maturity of MBA students (7 years +)
- Cooperative environment (esp. among students)
- Short and intensive nature of programme
- Family friendliness of school

2. What research did you undertake in selecting your school?

- MBA publications
- International rankings
- Friends     

3. Did you consider an executive MBA? If so why did (or did you not) decide to take an Executive MBA?

Although I considered an EMBA, I decided that a compact MBA would be preferable for three main reasons:
- the benefits are in my opinion far greater because it allows you to focus far more effectively on the learning process;
- I would like to changecareer and therefore appreciate the time and "break" involved in a full-time MBA;
- the time pressure on the family (we have two children) is I believe greater with an EMBA.      

4. What are the benefits of studying outside your home country?

The usual benefits are clearly a higher degree of internationalism, widening of perspectives, as well as contact with a richer variety of fellow participants.      

5. What are your career objectives after your MBA? What were you doing before your MBA?

Before the MBA I was in strategic consultancy - and would now like to move into venture capital or private equity.
