IE University Embraces Unique ‘Liquid Learning’ Model
By Niamh Ollerton
Updated UpdatedAs of September 2020, all undergraduate, postgraduate, and executive education students at IE University can attend classes on campus or online and still receive the same immersive experience and academic quality of study – thanks to a newly developed ‘liquid learning’ model.
IE University prides itself as a pioneer of innovative education, and this new, unique liquid learning model aims to transform the education landscape. Launching across all five IE University schools this September, all programs will have a hybrid format simultaneously attended by students in the classroom and online, allowing for more flexibility for students.
IE has also adapted all courses to include new methodologies, content and academic materials to reinforce active and personalized learning.
Similarly, facilities and classrooms have been redesigned and equipped with technological solutions to enhance interaction for this new style of learning. This will further add to the capabilities of IE’s unique training spaces like the WOW Room.
Students attending classes at the Madrid and Segovia campuses will participate in conferences, seminars, workshops and develop their professional networks while also enjoying the culture of two Spanish cities.
And those choosing to undertake their studies online will have the same academic and networking opportunities as their peers in Spain, while participating in synchronous and asynchronous classes as well as individual sessions monitored by IE University faculty.
Santiago Iñiguez de Onzoño, President of IE University said: “Starting next September, we will resume face-to-face classes and activate our new liquid learning model. Students will move on a physical and digital stage that reflects the world in which we now live, while personalizing their education and developing critical thinking and e-skills.
“At IE University, we are prepared to reactivate the classroom with all measures of health protection and physical distancing and will promote this unique training model as a response to the challenges facing the education sector.
“The Spanish government has confirmed the opening of Spain’s borders to international tourism as of July 1. In the coming weeks, we will gradually recover mobility and renew our efforts to attract talent and position Spain as a world-class educational destination.”
The university has 20 years of experience in online training, and recently earned the top spot for yet another for its online MBA program, regularly scoring high across QS rankings. Surely this new liquid learning model is just the beginning of even more exciting things to come at the university.
