Carlson School of Management Launches New Online Program
By Niamh Ollerton
Updated UpdatedCarlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota has launched its brand-new Carlson Online MBA.
The program application deadlines are October 15th, November 15th, December 15th for a January start, or May 15th, June 15th, July 15th for a September start.
Carlson’s Online MBA will be undertaken online, with a few in-person residencies at the Carlson School in Minneapolis, or internationally. The MBA can be completed in two years on average.
Natalie S. Dillon, Associate Director of Admissions, Recruiting, and Corporate Development for Carlson MBA Programs speaks with TopMBA.com about the brand-new Carlson Online MBA and what prospective students can expect from the program.
Dillon says, “I work with our Full-Time, Part-Time, Executive and newly launched Online MBA programs during the application, admission, and acceptance processes.
“I’m also the main connection to many corporate partners in Minnesota and nationwide. This includes connecting with our alumni and serving the business community with Carlson's exceptional graduate MBA and MS programs."
What factors led to the development of this program at the school?
Carlson has seen a need for more flexible and different format courses for our diverse students, which saw the creation of over 40 different online courses offered to our Part-Time and Full-Time MBA students. This change inspired Carlson staff and faculty to create a full Online MBA to allow candidates to complete their MBA from anywhere in as little as two years.
What type of students do you hope to see apply in the first year?
We’re hoping to see a diverse class of working professionals from all experiences and backgrounds who can create a tight knit community that will boost the value of a Carlson MBA and its network.
What are some of the extra-curricular opportunities available to students on this program?
Students will be able to participate in a variety of Carlson student organizations in conjunction with the Part-Time and Full-Time MBA. We also promote the option for online students to create their own connection opportunities and groups.
How will the program be taught and what can students expect from the program on a day-to-day basis?
The Online MBA will be taught through the Carlson Online Course system, where students can chat with classmates and faculty in both an asynchronous and synchronous manner. Each students’ schedule will vary as you can take coursework anywhere and complete it at any time.
How can students on the program take advantage of wider opportunities within the institution?
We expect most of our Online MBA students to take advantage of the Carlson service and community through student organizations, alumni network, graduate business career center, and international experiential learning. All students need to do is reach out and stay connected to the Carlson community through the amazing staff, faculty, and alumni.
What most excites you about this program launch?
I’m excited to see the cohort come together from all over the US and the world to experience the advantages of Carlson.
What will the career opportunities be for graduates of the program?
The Online MBA candidates will be able to take advantage of the top-ranked Graduate Business Career Center, which will give them access to career coaches and business development specialists to help candidates prep for career opportunities or new ventures.
Is there any additional information you’d like prospective students to know?
Our application for Spring 2019 is open now! We look forward to hearing from you!
