QS Masters in Management Rankings 2018 Out Now: An Overview
By Phil Cottrell
Updated UpdatedThe QS Business Masters Rankings 2018 have now been released and represent the first time we have complied comprehensive rankings for a range of business masters subjects.
In addition to the QS Masters in Management Rankings 2018, we have also launched the QS Masters in Finance Rankings 2018 and QS Masters in Business Analytics Rankings 2018.
These three rankings sit aside the QS Global MBA Rankings 2018, the most-evolved MBA rankings we have ever compiled. Our aim is to provide a quality suite of rankings that can be compared and contrasted. Applicants and recruiters alike can view the strengths of different schools and programs, across the world, through a number of key indicators.
Three major surveys feed the data for these indicators. The QS Global Employer Survey is used, in part, to determine a program’s ranking, and this year saw over 40,000 responses from companies all over the globe.
This is combined with verified data from schools, and the QS Global Academic Survey, to provide a robust and comprehensive ranking.
The five key indicators for the Masters in Management Rankings 2018 are: ‘Employability’ (35%), ‘Alumni Outcomes’ (15%), ‘Value for Money’ (20%), ‘Thought Leadership’ (20%) and ‘Class & Faculty Diversity’ (10%).
For more details on how we calculated the ranking of a program, take a look at our QS Business Masters Rankings 2018 Methodology.
So who came out on top this year?
The London School of Economics, Copenhagen Business School, Imperial College Business School and ESADE all made it into the Top 10 Masters in Management programs this year. However, it was HEC Paris’ MSc Strategic Management program that topped the list.
This represents the current supremacy of European institutions over their North American counterparts. It isn’t until you reach 16th place on the list that you find an American program, in the form of University of Michigan Ross School of Business.
While North America might still dominate the top echelons of the MBA market, as highlighted in the Global MBA Rankings 2018, the region is still very much playing catch up when it comes to the Masters in Management. As the degree continues to gain traction across the world, it will be interesting to see if the North American schools can catch their European counterparts.
