Dalhousie University is a 200 year old university which is a member of the U15 group of Canada's most research intensive universities. The Corporate Residency MBA offers a 22-month innovative, industry-informed and rigorous curriculum combined with an 8-month paid work experience (corporate residency). Students typically make $25-45K on their residencies, and 98% of students have secured employment in their field of choice within 6 months of graduation. The goal of the program is to help high achieving, self-motivated individuals with leadership potential launch their careers and accelerate professional development.

Successful candidates display exceptional potential in employability, coachability and critical thinking to join a small multi-disciplinary cohort of 40-60 students. Our first year integrated core curriculum of business courses provide a solid foundation for advanced study, and success on the corporate residency. In addition to further exploration of the functional areas of business, 2nd year students leverage the Faculty of Management’s unique, inter-disciplinary, values-led approach to management education.

Unique to Dalhousie is our Personal and Professional Effectiveness (PPE) courses providing students with the relevant, practical leadership skills they need to accelerate their career.  Anchored by the core pillars of self-management, engagement, creativity, complexity and leading and influencing, PPE was developed using input from our employer partners.

FAQs

The Faculty of Graduate Studies here at Dalhousie University governs our admissions processes and will not accept a 3-year degree. That said though, they may consider a master's degree.
Our admissions process is also governed by the Faculty of Graduate Studies(FGS) who mandate that all applicants meet the GPA admission requirement of 3.0 in the last two years of study. This, unfortunately, is not a requirement that our admissions committee can influence even if they believe an application would be successful in our program. That said, however, FGS will allow an additional 15 credit hours of course work (3000 or 4000 level classes) should an applicant wish to upgrade their GPA or upgrading prior grades can also be considered.
The Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS) here at Dalhousie University governs our admissions process and mandates that reference letters must be academic in nature unless an applicant has been away from their studies for more than five years in which case, they will accept one academic reference and one professional reference. Unfortunately, that would mean that for you, references must both be academic in nature.
Applications are assessed at the end of each round. Depending on the round from which you applied typically the decisions are turned around within 2 weeks to 4 weeks.
The target market for the Corporate Residency MBA program is early career professionals who are looking to get their foot in the door of the corporate world and either come directly from their undergraduate degree or with less than 5 years of professional work experience. If you have more than 5 years of work experience please browse Dalhousie University's options for Mid-career MBA options.
