The recent QS Business Master’s Rankings 2024: Supply Chain Management covers 80 schools offering master's degrees in supply chain management around the world. 

The rankings are compiled using five indicators: employability, alumni outcomes, value for money, thought leadership and class and faculty diversity, with data collected from a global survey of employers and other sources. Find out more about the methodology used here.

Top institutions for master's degrees in supply chain management in the US and Canada 

The US is home to 20 of the 80 institutions recognised for their supply chain management master’s degrees. 

Four US based institutions, MIT’s Center for Transportation & Logistics, Michigan (Ross), USC (Marshall) and Washington (Foster) have managed to secure positions within the top 10 list for master’s degrees in supply chain management this year. MIT’s Center for Transportation & Logistics not only claims the top spot globally but also dominates by ranking first in four out of five key indicators: value for money, thought leadership, employability, and alumni outcomes. 

Among the 20 institutions from the US, a notable 18 secured positions within the global top 50, representing a substantial 80 percent of American institutions offering supply chain management master’s programmes.  

In Canada, only the John Molson School of Business secured a position in the global list with its Master of Supply Chain Management, earning a ranking of 51+. This programme shines particularly bright in alumni outcomes, for which it’s ranked 21st. 

Top institutions for master's degrees in supply chain management in Europe 

Europe is home to 40 of the world’s top institutions for master’s in supply chain management. Six of the top 10 institutions are in Europe with the highest-ranking entrant being WU Vienna University of Economics and Business located in Austria. European programmes stand out for diversity, claiming the entire top 22 spots in this category. This underscores Europe's reputation for providing an inclusive learning environment to supply chain management postgraduate students.  

The majority of European programmes are based in the UK,16 out of the 40. 13 of the UK-based institutions have secured positions within the global top 50, and the highest-ranked institution is Cranfield School of Management ranked 10th globally. 

France has the next highest number of programmes, with eight making it to this year's ranking. Six of them are among the top 50 globally, and emlyon Business School stands out by securing a spot in the global top 10. French institutions excel in diversity, with all of them earning ranks above 22 for this indicator. 

Spain has four entries, while Ireland has three in this year's rankings. Austria, Belgium, Portugal, and Switzerland each have one entry, while Italy and the Netherlands each have two. 

Top institutions for master's degrees in supply chain management in Latin America 

This year's rankings feature only two master’s degrees in supply chain management from Latin America. The CENTRUM Catolica Business School's Specialised Master in Supply Chain Management and ESAN Graduate School of Business's Master in Supply Chain Management are both ranked 51+.  

Notably, both programmes perform well in the employability indicator, with CENTRUM Catolica Business School securing 18th spot globally for this indicator. 

Top institutions for master's degrees in supply chain management in Asia 

Nine Asian institutes are recognised for their master's degrees in supply chain management this year, consisting of three institutions from Hong Kong, two from mainland China, and one entrant from each of India, Japan, Saudi Arabia, and Thailand. Four of these programmes have secured spots in the global top 50. 

The highest-ranked programme in Asia is the Master of Science in Operations and Supply Chain Management from the City University of Hong Kong, ranked 11th in the world. Notably, it also holds the top spot in Asia for employability, having ranked fourth globally.  

Additionally, the Master of Science in Global Operations from HKUST has performed exceptionally across all indicators, securing a global rank of joint 12th. This programme is ranked second in the world for the thought leadership indicator depicting its exceptional influence and authority in the field of supply chain management. 

The top-ranked institution in Asia for the value for money indicator is Tongji-UTK-KLU in mainland China, in 30th place. For this indicator, it’s closely followed by KFUPM Business School in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, in 32nd. 

Top institutions for master's degrees in supply chain management in Australia 

Australia is represented by only two entries in this year's supply chain management master's degree rankings. Notably, the Master of Strategic Supply Chain Management at the University of Technology Sydney Business School stands out as the highest-ranked programme, securing 38th position globally.  

Both institutions, including the Sydney Business School of the University of Wollongong and the University of Technology Sydney Business School, demonstrate exceptional performance in the diversity indicator. The former is ranked 30th worldwide, while the latter closely follows at 32nd for the same indicator. This recognition depicts their commitment to fostering diverse and inclusive academic environments to their students. 

Top institutions for master's degrees in supply chain management in Africa 

Three African institutions have secured positions in the QS Business Master's Rankings for Supply Chain Management this year. All three recognised institutions, Rabat Business School, Mediterranean School of Business, and Groupe ISCAE are ranked 51+.  

Master in Business Management Supply Chain of Mediterranean School of Business scores excellently for the employability indicator and is ranked 19th globally for the same.
