ESADE Business School Appoints New Dean in Reshuffle
By Louis Lavelle
Updated UpdatedESADE Business School, ranked third among business schools in Spain according to the latest QS Global 200 Business Schools Report, has a new dean, as part of a management shakeup announced on Monday.
The recently re-appointed director general of ESADE Business School, Eugenia Bieto, announced that professor Josep Franch would take over for Alfons Sauquet as dean. Professor Jonathan Wareham will become ESADE’s new dean of faculty and research, professor Francisco Longo will take on the newly-created role of associate director general, and professor Jordi Brunat is to be the school’s new director of executive education.
Bieto, in a prepared statement for ESADE Business School, said the reshuffling of top management at the school will make it possible to “continue prioritizing the excellence and quality of the programs, which are always attuned to the reality of businesses and fully adapted to the demands of the market.”
Sauquet to stay on in new strategic ‘global dean’ role at ESADE
Sauquet has served as dean since 2007. His departure as dean comes in the middle of his second four-year term. An ESADE spokesman said Sauquet has been appointed global dean for the school, a role that involves overseeing international expansion and strategic alliances, and remains on the faculty. Sauquet declined to comment.
Franch was previously the director of ESADE’s department of marketing management. An expert in designing marketing strategies for global brands, he taught at top schools in 18 countries, oversaw the launch of ESADE Business School’s master’s in management programs, and wrote more than 60 case studies. He’s also consulted with numerous companies including Novartis, Sony, and Xerox.
In his new capacity, Franch is responsible for ESADE’s full-time MBA and master’s in management degrees as well as its bachelor’s in business administration. All are taught at the school’s Sant Cugat campus, which draws students from more than 100 different countries.
Wareham, the former vice dean of research and director of ESADE’s Institute for Innovation and Knowledge Management, is an expert in the IT systems used by big companies, and has led research projects for organizations as diverse as Microsoft and CERN, the world’s largest particle physics laboratory.
Longo, formerly ESADE’s secretary general, is an expert in people management, governance, public leadership, and administrative modernization. Longo will be replaced as secretary general by Enrique López Viguria, ESADE’s former institutional secretary.
Brunat is a strategy professor at ESADE.
