NYC Coworking Spaces
By QS Contributor
Updated UpdatedWhile there are many tales of entrepreneurs who started a company in their garage (Yahoo and Apple spring to mind), it might not be the best option for you and your business. Co-working spaces free you from the distractions associated with working from home (dealing with family members, telemarketing calls), as well as the loneliness of working on your own. And if you are New Yorker who also happens to be an aspiring entrepreneur, you have several great co-working spaces to choose from.
Sunshine Suites
Sunshine Suites provides affordable workspace and co-working space in Noho, TriBeCa, and the Bronx. Sunshine's newest location in the Bronx also functions as a startup incubator. Vitacoco got its start in Sunshine's Noho space. All Sunshine workspaces include conference room access, mail service, and T3 Internet. Costs depend on location but rates for coworking starts at $99 and dedicated workspace prices start at $275.
Locations: Noho - 419 Lafayette St., Manhattan, NY; Tribecca - 12 Desbrosses St., Manhattan, NY; Bronx - 890 Garrison Ave., Bronx, NY
Dogpatch Labs
Dogpatch Labs is a 12th Street coworking space and community for aspiring entrepreneurs, as well as a self-described "frat house for geeks". Entrepreneurs are able to connect with one another in order to share ideas, referrals, as well as networking. They also host dinner events, brown bag talks, workshops, conferences and pizza nights. Amenities include Internet access, coffee and snacks. Dogpatch shares its coworking space with offices for local startups. Dogpatch Labs also has locations in Palo Alto, Cambridge MA, and Ireland.

We Work
Arguably the most famous co-working space in NYC, WeWork has six locations here in NYC, as well as two in California. In addition to the basics (meeting rooms, wifi, coffee, purified water, xerox machines), We Work provides a long list of amenities from the functional (event spaces, phone booths, a recording studio) to the fun (pool table and Xbox rooms).
