MBA Jobs in United Kingdom (UK)
By QS Contributor
Updated UpdatedThe UK job market for MBA graduates increased by 14% over the past year, while MBA pay packages average over US$107,000 according to TopMBA.com research.
Published annually, the QS TopMBA.com Jobs and Salary Trends Report shows that even during recessionary periods, UK-based MBA employers remain faithful in the advantages of hiring MBA graduates.
Surveying thousands of MBA employers around the world, the report places the UK third among the world’s top countries for MBA recruitment when ranked by the number of reported MBA job opportunities available, behind India and the US.
Despite a 5% reported growth in Western European MBA job availability, the only other European country to feature in the report’s top 10 countries for MBA recruitment is Germany, placed ninth.
“This is a dramatic change from a decade ago when the same list would certainly have featured France and Spain,” says Nunzio Quacquarelli, managing director of QS Quacquarelli Symonds and author of the report.
“The UK shows a continued commitment to MBA hiring, which reflects the dominance of the service sector in the UK economy, as well as the sensitivity of MBA hiring to the sector’s performance. Yet banking, which remains at the heart of the UK economy, remains fairly subdued in terms of MBA hiring.”
Susan Haddon of Merrill Lynch in London explains the benefits that international MBA graduates can deliver to a business.“MBAs bring a diverse skill-set to the organization from their studies and previous work experience. Furthermore they provide us with languages that are required in individual business areas and teams, and tend to be more business conscious.
“MBAs are very focused on their next career step and are very thorough in their approach to working for the right organization.”
