The Weatherhead School of Management, named in honor of the Weatherhead family, is further example of this through its commitment to offer the very best in management education born from our internal challenge to explore and implement leading-edge management theory.The distinctive look of our Frank Gehry-designed home reflects Weatherhead’s philosophy that business education must go beyond the ordinary to produce graduates who are prepared to tackle 21st century management issues. Our students, faculty, and staff working together create an environment that is collaborative, progressive, and open-minded.Since the School awarded the region’s first business degree in 1930, Weatherhead’s spirit of innovation has been the driving force in elevating our programs to national and global prominence. Among these advances are the nation’s first Ph.D. programs in both Organizational Behavior and Operations Research. Weatherhead was also the first to create Appreciative Inquiry and use it as a strength-based approach to organizational development, social entrepreneurship, and regional economic development. Our mission at Weatherhead is to prepare students for today’s complex and changing world. As a result, we have rethought management education by focusing on the distinctive themes of Sustainable Enterprise and Manage by Designing, both of which are interlaced throughout Weatherhead’s renowned programs.Weatherhead continues to receive acclaim as one of the most innovative management schools in the world, earning a rank in the top 10 percent. One of the reasons behind this success is our faculty. Of 71 dynamic individuals, 92 percent are Ph.D.s, and more than 30 percent come from overseas, giving the program global reach and perspective.Our faculty members are not only leaders in the classroom; they are also leading cutting-edge research. Currently, Weatherhead has 16 named professorships with focuses ranging from entrepreneurial studies to management design and industrial economics.
