EHL Hospitality Business School is a pioneer of hospitality education. The school was founded in 1893 where 27 students gathered in the Hôtel l’Angleterre where they gained an education in arithmetic, accounting, geography, and languages and put their education into practice working at the hotel. Following the Second World War, the institution went from strength to strength with world-class hospitality professionals teaching classes and the introduction of student internships as a part of the course at the end of the 1950s. Today the school is found on the shores of Lake Geneva with a new investment campus that champions sustainability and community learning.    The school’s main campus is found in Lausanne, Switzerland: a large, picturesque city bordering Lake Geneva. It is well known for its vineyards, arts district, shopping, and cafes as well as being the home of the International Olympic Committee since 1914. Lausanne thrives on the tourism industry and has therefore been a world-leader in the hospitality and hospitality education sector for many years. EHL also has a campus in Chur: the oldest city in Switzerland. Students here are based in a popular spa hotel with stunning mountain views. University information

Students can apply to any of EHL Hospitality Business School’s programs online. They will be asked to create a profile on the school’s online application portal and submit the following documents in either French, English, German, or Italian: 

  • Passport 
  • Diploma/ academic transcripts 
  • Language certificate (if English or French is not the student’s first language) 
  • CV (optional) 
  • Work experience report (optional) 
  • References (optional) 
If their official documents are not in the aforementioned languages, they will also need to submit a copy that has been translated into English by a certified translator. In addition, they will need to submit information about the school or university that they have studied at previously and an explanation of the grading and assessment systems. They will then be asked to pay the 175 CHF application fee. 
After submitting their documents, the student will then be asked to submit an essay that they have written about why they have chosen to study at EHL, what their career aspirations are, or their views on current trends within the hospitality industry. 
If the student’s application meets the school's requirements, they will be asked to complete a 20-minute online interview and an aptitude test. This test will be composed of three small exams and will evaluate the student’s skills in leadership, analytical reasoning, motivation, and communication. 
If the student passes the interview and the aptitude test, they will be invited to attend a motivation day where they will partake in another interview about their experience and passion for the industry so that faculty members can find out if the student will be good within the school. They will also complete a team-building exercise with the other candidates present to see if they can work well in a team. 
After the motivation day, students will find out whether their application was successful or not. If they are offered a place, they can complete their enrolment via the online portal. 

Scholarships and funding opportunities
To support their students and ensure that every talented student can thrive, EHL offers several scholarship options
When submitting their application, undergraduate students may apply for a tuition waiver or an academic excellence award to contribute towards their studies. 
All students can apply for a partial scholarship, where a grant is given to cover part of a student’s tuition fees and living expenses, and an honorary loan, which is repaid at 0% interest and will also cover part of a student’s tuition fees and living expenses. 
It is important to note that grants and loans are awarded annually for the coming academic year. Students will need to reapply for a grant or loan for each year of their study.

Although EHL Hospitality Business School teaches practical skills and much of their teaching is conducted in practical hospitality settings and in-person classrooms, there are also online facilities. These include webinars where professors, other members of faculty and current working professionals share their knowledge and discuss the future of the hospitality industry.

The hospitality industry relations department service: It works closely with the Alumni department to build new partnerships and contacts in various industries. This service facilitates professional networking and access to professional resources for students. 


Internship and career preparation service: An integral part of the Student Affairs department, the internship and careers services offers support to promote student employability and prepare them for internships and employment. 
Entrepreneurship: The Innovation Village and numerous research and development initiatives allow you to test your entrepreneurial skills and benefit from expert knowledge and resources. 
EHL job fairs: Job fairs attract employers from around the world looking for top recruits, both for internships and permanent positions. 
EHL recruitment platform: EHL’s recruitment platform is a space where students and former students can find job and internship offers.
