TopMBA Weekly Pulse, October 23 2014
By Mike Grill
Updated UpdatedIt’s a busy week on the Pulse with a couple of new bloggers, and a good evolution from thinking about an MBA to what MBA programs are doing.
BlackGirlMBAonCampus has just started her MBA journey, and is beginning to feel some doubts, but with advice from Texaswannabecali below the line, she’s going to stick with it! GNPTH, on the other hand, is one step further, studying hard for the GMAT.
One of the hardest parts of the application procedure is playing the waiting game. Both TopDogMBA and Naija MBA Girl are sitting and waiting, and working and waiting, while finishing their round two applications…and waiting. Techie to MBA is already weighing up the pros and cons of the schools he has applied to, spending that waiting time already narrowing down choices for when those responses arrive. Coffee Beans and Tea Leaves is back and applying for business schools again as well.
For the first round applicants that have heard back, it’s interview time: My Journey to Business School just had their Kellogg interview, Pulling that MBA Trigger reveals the takeaways from an interview at Duke Fuqua, and Scott Duncan talks about prepping for his Sloan interview. Grant Me Admission’s guest post from TheEngineerMBA talks about how their HBS essay got them a coveted interview at the school.
MBAs currently in programs are busy, busy, busy. Zafeer Khan talks about volunteering at Entrepreneur Impact Day. New blogger The Grad School Life…With Kids has attended a birthday party, and talks about what it is like two months in to the program. Life is My Classroom gets your mouth watering with a quick culinary trip around the world at Darden’s International Food Festival. The women at Kellogg are already meeting with recruiters at ‘Careers Uncorked.’
Finally, in some lighter, non MBA-specific reading, Dr Dre might not be a real doctor, or have a real doctorate, but according to EF Essays he might as well have a doctorate in business.
