TopMBA Weekly Pulse January 29
By Mike Grill
Updated UpdatedA busy week in the blogosphere (finally)! Lots to read, lots to see, lots to do…so let’s get on with it!
It’s still pretty quiet in the pre-MBA blog space, being between admissions rounds as we are. Maybe it is the sound of crickets from Pulling That MBA Trigger that are giving My Life Of Bliss a bad feeling, or maybe it is the MBA forums. But who knows?
EF Essays explores the idea of an MBA maybe landing you in a career removed from typical corporate culture.
Switching gears to MBA students (who are back from their breaks and ready to write their blogs); Girl Meets B-School has discovered that not only is tennis played by fictional character of Mrs Claire Underwood (because nothing goes with tennis better than a little conspiracy with a dash of murder), but also real women in business on a weekly basis. UCLA Anderson’s Dean Olian is thinking about women in business (school) too, while Duke Fuqua’s Minority Workshop is also aimed at addressing imbalances at business school.
It’s one of those times of the year when it seems like everyone is on the move, whether coming back to school or participating in things like MIT Sloan’s G-Lab. We welcome 2 Years at HBS back, not just from break, but also to the Pulse (it’s been a while) for his FINAL TERM! A couple of new additions in the form of Darden bloggers: Twenty Eight Sixty Five who is following the sports and business (and conspiracy and backstabbing and layers and layers!) model by getting out onto the golf course and Let’s Be C-Ville talks about de-stressing before the new term begins.
Wrapping up, From Bench to Board discusses the MBA Improv course at Duke Fuqua; GMU Business School students head to South Africa; and the Kellogg blog features a two-part series on effective design thinking.
