There are many San Francisco startup events designed to help entrepreneurs, but with 70+ tech meetups in the area it's hard to know where to start. This list of San Francisco startup events can be your starting point.
106 Miles
Who it's for: Founders and engineers who either have experience working at a startup or want to work at a startup.
What it is: On their Meetup.com page, 106 Miles is described as a "network of startup founders, engineers, and friends". Entrepreneurs and engineers meet at a bar to network and casually exchange ideas. The name of the group is based on a quote from the movie The Blues Brothers.
When they meet: The first, second, and last Wednesday of each month from 6-9 in Palo Alto, Redwood City, and San Francisco (respectively).
Founders Space Roundtable
Who it's for: Startup founders
What it is: The Founders Space Roundtable is a get-together where startup founders share their knowledge, give advice, and network. Industry experts provide advice on a specific startup-related issue such as VC funding or patent law. At the end of the meeting, participants form small groups to help each other with problems they are facing.
When they meet: Once a month in both San Francisco and Menlo Park
Hackers and Founders
Who it's for: Startup founders including those who are new to the Bay Area.
What it is: According to their Meetup.com page, Hackers & Founders is "the largest community of technically minded people in the SF Bay area focused on founding startups." They host networking events, meetups and smaller lunch events. In addition to tech meetups, Hackers and Founders offers peer review through Angel Office Hours and a startup incubator called the Co-op.
When they meet: The meetups take place every other weekin various Bay Area locations including: San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Berkeley and San Jose.
Funders and Founders
Who it's for: Anyone who wants to form a startup, whether you are an engineer or a Mom.
What it is: As the name denotes, Funders and Founders is an organization dedicated to matching startups with funders. They host Life 3.0, a monthly startup demo show that connects startup founders with investors, early adopters, and media.
When they meet: Once a month
SF Beta
Who it's for: Startup founders, hackers, students, investors, designers, visionaries, and media professionals
What it is: SF Beta is a startup mixer that attracts over 500 people each month. San Francisco area startups demo their products and services throughout the evening.
