2013’s Global Ambassadors of the Accredited MBA Announced: MBA News
By QS Contributor
Updated UpdatedThe winners of the Association of MBA’s Global AMBAssador Challenge – that this year put the spotlight on successful social business models – have been named.
The new global AMBAssadors will represent the Association of MBAs at high-profile events as part of their stated aims of championing the value of the accredited MBA as well as building a stronger sense of community amongst its members.
The two winners were: Davina McCormick, MBA student at Queensland University of Technology Business School, and University of Stellenbosch Business School MBA graduate, Brigitte Roediger.
Contenders were asked to research and produce an article that examined a successful social business story, paying particular attention to ethical, sustainable and responsible management. For the writing aspect of the challenge they sought help from UK newspaper, The Independent, before making their final judgment.
Winning articles underline emphasis accredited MBA places on responsible leadership.
Andrew Main Wilson, Chief Executive of the Association of MBAs, said: “Davina’s interview with Paul Quilliam (an entrepreneur who set up Queensland Kids in Queensland, Australia to raise funds to build Hummingbird House – a dedicated children’s hospice) articulated ambition, clear vision, innovation and corporate sophistication required for scalability and growth.”
Brigitte is the second winner from Stellenbosch Business School in successive years. Her article on the Fundza Literacy Fund is available in full from The Independent. According to Andrew Main Wilson, “Brigitte’s interview demonstrated how sheer passion and determination by Mignon Hardie created a value-based organization dealing with social issues.”
As a reward for their efforts, the winners will appear at an accredited MBA community event on behalf of AMBA. Brigitte will attend the United Nations’ PRME Summit in Slovenia on 25 September and Davina will be present at the Global Social Business Summit (and the Young Challengers Meeting) in Malaysia on 6 November 2013.
