QS MBA Community Scholarship: 2020 Winner Hema Retty
By Craig OCallaghan
Updated UpdatedWe’re pleased to announce that one of the winners of this year’s QS MBA Community scholarship is Hema Retty.
The scholarship is awarded to five students annually, with each receiving an award of US$2,000. Recipients must attend a QS event, start their first year of MBA study in the next academic year, and the scholarship must go towards tuition fees.
We caught up with Hema to learn more about the impact this scholarship will have on her studies, as well as her top tips for future scholarship applicants.
What are you planning to study, and why did you choose the university you’ve applied to?
I am pursuing an Executive MBA at The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. I chose Wharton because of its strong and diverse student/alumni network and well as its reputation as a top business school.
What do you hope to gain from your degree? How will it affect your career plans?
I hope to gain a strong foundation in business, management and entrepreneurship which will allow me to work my way up to an executive-level position at a large technology company. I also hope to start my own company if I find the right business idea!
How did you find the scholarship application process? What difference will it make to you?
I found the scholarship application process pretty easy but with some technical glitches. The essay questions were straight-forward; however, the submission and confirmation over the QS app had some issues. I have applied to a few scholarships and this one will help alleviate some of the costs of tuition in the first semester.
What advice do you have for other prospective students who are applying for scholarships?
Start looking for large scholarships well in advance, generally when you’re still applying to schools.
